Meditation Intensive Module, with Aaron Dias, Feb. 8-10

Meditation: Traversing the Inner World

February 8-10, 2019

Teacher: Aaron Dias

YTT 200 hour, yoga teacher training, hudson valley, kingston, ny, modulesMeditation is the most fundamental spiritual practice of all because it develops our most valuable asset of all–our awareness. Sharing just a few simple tools and insights, Aaron teaches you how to overcome common obstacles and develop a practice that is steady, satisfying, authentic to your own path and wildly effective in helping you reach your goals. We will devote the rest of the weekend to the study of the energy body–which effects everything about your lived experience on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. Though you may not be able to see the subtle body (yet!) everyone can learn how to detect it and learn what it needs. By the end of the weekend you will feel much more confident about who you are, what you need and how to make it all fall into balance.

Learn:

  • the tools you need to establish a committed self-meditation practice.
  • how to translate the information that your own energy body is trying to share.
  • to become the authority on your own spiritual development.

Summer Pop-Up Kirtan

Led by Seth Lieberman

Tuesdays July through August

7:45-8:45pm

By Donation, hosted at our Midtown Studio

Join us at The Yoga House on Tuesday nights in July and August for Kirtan, call-and-response devotional group chanting. Kirtan will primarily be led by Yoga House instructor, Seth Lieberman, who will some (or all) weeks be accompanied by other local musician. In this powerful Bhakti Yoga (The Yoga of Devotion) mantra practice, we repeat the names of the divine in the Sanskrit, accompanied by the harmonium and musical instruments. Like other paths of yoga, kirtan works to calm the mind, open the heart, and bring us into closer union with our Self and with others.

This Summer Pop-up Kirtan will connect not only our local community through singing and gathering, but will also connect us to those  further away as we will collect donations for RAICES, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees in Texas.

Kirtan is accessible to all and no prior experience with yoga or singing is necessary. All are welcome.

New Led Primary Series Ashtanga Class

with Kathy Reisfeld

Tuesdays, 5:45-7:15pm at the Uptown Studio

Begins November 7th

The physical and spiritual benefits of the Ashtanga Yoga practice unfold with a committed and regular practice, so we thought it was time to offer an additional class to the regular weekly offerings. This new class, which will also be a Primary Series class, will be led by experience Ashtanga yoga practitioner and instructor, Kathy Reisfeld, and hosted at our Uptown studio at 57 Crown Street.

Those who are newer to the Ashtanga Yoga practice, please feel free to come to any of our now three(!) Ashtanga classes, but know that we will be offering another Intro to Asthanga Yoga Series in January. If you’re interested in finding out a little more about what the practice is, please read our blog post here.

Kathy Reisfeld has been practicing Ashtanga Yoga since the fall of 2001 when she was introduced to the Ashtanga primary series. In the summer of 2003 she had the privilege of studying with Nancy Gilgoff and Christine Hoar at a workshop in Burlington, Vermont, which opened her eyes to the true depths of Ashtanga Yoga.

While living in NYC she practiced at Ashtanga Yoga New York with Eddie Stern as her teacher from 2005 through 2010.   She had the good fortune of meeting and practicing with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in the fall of 2003 and again in 2005 and 2006.  She traveled to Mysore, India in 2005 in order to study at the Ashanga Yoga Research Institute with Sharath Rangaswamy.

In 2010, while pregnant with her daughter, Ruthie, Kathy moved up to Woodstock with her husband, Scott. Kathy has been maintaining a home practice since her move up to Woodstock.   She is grateful for the love, support, and wisdom of her teacher, Christine Hoar. Kathy hosts a Mysore style Ashtanga practice group at her home studio in Woodstock. Visit Ashtanga Yoga Woodstock for more info.
