Explore and begin a practice of QiGong – moving your vital force for improved circulation and brightening the mind. Through intentional movement, focused breath, and attention to the different pathways of the body, we release energetic and physiological blockages. Freely moving qi is crucial for our health. We’ll discuss the history of QiGong and principles of Yin and Yang, Five Elements, and living in harmony with the seasons. We will learn foundational movements from The Ling Gui International Healing QiGong School and Master Wang’s Turtle Longevity QiGong. Connect with the vitality within and all around you – QiGong is accessible to all.

 

 

Corinne Wolcott, MSOM, LAc, Certified QiGong Instructor, shares many possible practices for health, all rooted in self-awareness and self-acceptance. Drawing upon her training as a Chinese Medicine Practitioner and twelve years of QiGong practice, Corinne emphasizes curiosity and trust in her classes. Yoga Scholarship: Unlimited Classes for 2019 for 2 Recipients. Applications accepted until 3/13.

The Yoga House is thrilled to offer, thanks to the generosity two anonymous donors, two scholarships for unlimited classes for the duration of 2019 at both of our locations in Kingston. This is a need-based scholarship, and our intention is to offer the practice and benefits of yoga to those who would otherwise be unable to financially pursue and develop a practice in the environment and with the support of a yoga studio community. Applicants can but are not required to have previous yoga experience.  

 

Inspired by our generous donors, we are awarding the scholarships to applicants who are an active part of the Kingston community, who have displayed their commitment by donating time and service to others in need right here in Kingston.  

 

Recipient Requirements

  • Recipients must attend at least three classes per week, excluding any emergency circumstances.
  • If a recipient misses two consecutive weeks of practice without extenuating circumstances the scholarship will be withdrawn and given to another applicant.

 

Application Questions

  1. Please provide the details of your community service experience(s) in Kingston.
  2. In a few words, why do you want to develop a yoga practice? What about yoga speaks to you?
  3. What, if any, previous experience have you had with yoga? (This can include information or history you may have researched or heard.)
  4. How do you feel your yoga practice will benefit your life? How, and in what way?

 

Building off of these questions, please include a brief bio about yourself. Your application should be no more than two pages in length and include your email and phone number. Please address your response to Jacquelyn Nash & Felipa Gaudet, and send your application to theyogahouseny@gmail.com with the subject “Scholarship Application.” Once applications have been reviewed, we will ask to meet with the applicant finalists before announcing recipients.

Join Certified Primal Health Coach and NASM Personal Trainer Dee Pitcock to help you do just that with her 4 week Reset. This program helps identify your habits, including both exercise and dietary, that may be causing roadblocks on your road to a healthy lifestyle, and reroutes you on a new track to keep your mind, body and spirit on a healthy trajectory. Through this series, you will have 4 weekly meetings that are part discussion and part personal coaching to identify that which needs to change and gives you a plan on how to do so, you will receive 4 emails a week from Dee giving you daily action items and reminders, and you have the option of purchasing a special yoga class package to kickstart your weekly yoga routine to complement your positive plan of action. (Class package included 8 classes for an additional $96, to be used during the reset and hit a target of 2 yoga classes per week.)

Through this Reset you will:

  • Learn the power of group intention and accountability with guidance and leadership of a certified health coach.
  • Understand and reduce cravings.
  • Identify trigger foods and situations and how to work with them.
  • Create goals and actively work toward them.
  • Rest your digestive system after a long and challenging holiday season –which will include temporary restriction of certain food s because of their known tendency to cause inflammation and contribute to chronic disease. Food preferences and the freedom to work within your own food beliefs i.e. plant based/paleo etc.… will be respected).
  • Understand how, not only a healthy diet but other lifestyle decisions create a cycle of health.

She has had the pleasure of helping people lead healthier lives with her work at The Mohonk Mountain House, Signature Fitness in Kingston, The Ridge in Stone Ridge, the Yoga House and Woodstock Healing Arts as well as providing in-home training for private clients. Though a lifelong athlete, Dee faced many challenges with her own body composition and health that necessitated a deep dive into nutrition and ways in which to achieve balance in her life right down to the cellular level. Having been through the trenches, she emerged with more tools and an even greater passion to help her community become happier and healthier.

So often in yoga class there isn’t time to slow down and talk about details or dive deeply and talk about the bigger concepts. In this workshop you will learn about some key concepts of yoga, and why when we put them into action yoga really works. We’ll talk about breath or vinyasa, energy locks or bandha, gaze points or dristi and postures or asana as vehicles for transformation then put them into practice right away, and much more. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.

 

Laura Olson

As a former dancer, Laura has always been kinesthetic, but yoga is what made her finally feel at home. A devoted Ashtangi and reverently rebellious yoga teacher, she has studied extensively in the United States as well as in Mysore, India with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Jois. Laura teaches both traditional Ashtanga as well as Ashtanga-influenced vinyasa in workshops, classes, and private lessons in the New York City and Woodstock areas. She also offers cooking classes and health coaching and most delights in making healthy indulgences for everyone. She offers deep gratitude to all the friends, mentors and teachers who have guided her and kept her company along the path.

Aaron Dias
Aaron is a facilitator of spiritual evolution who, through one-on-one coaching as well as group experiences, has helped hundreds of individuals discover their own innate capacity for healing, insight and positive transformation.
