Restorative Yoga

with Sally Delmerico

Mondays 10-11:15am, Uptown

Begins Sept.11th

What better way to start your week than Restorative Yoga? This class provides a peaceful atmosphere to allow the body, mind, and spirit to rejuvenate itself and prepare for the week ahead. The mind finds space through the breath to be open to new ideas and patterns. When you leave a class you will feel at ease physically and emotionally.

 

Family Yoga

with Hillary Harvey

Wednesdays 4:15-5:15pm, Midtown

$18 to drop in per 1 adult + 1 child aged 4-10

First day, Sept. 13th, is free.

Share yoga with your child! Through yoga games, story-telling with our poses, and simple partner yoga with your child, incorporate relaxation and breathing techniques into your family’s life.

Slow Flow

Honor the spirit of unwinding by moving at a sweet and mindful pace, building a slow-burning heat that prepares the body for opening and lengthening. Experience a transformative effect on body and spirit. Leave feeling lighter, more joyous, and centered.

Ashtanga, Led Primary Series

This class is dedicated to the sacred practice of Ashtanga Yoga. It is a led Ashtanga class where we will do the Primary Series, or Yoga Chikitsa, at each class. Read more about this style of yoga here.

 

Yin Yoga

Kayleigh Stack The Yoga House Kingston Hudson ValleyYin’s meditative quality fosters the development of patience, ease, and calm. In this class, we hold seated and supine poses for about five minutes each. During this time, the teacher will offer alignment instructions and refinement cues, followed by a brief reading or poem, and then we will spend about two minutes in sweet silence during which time each practitioner is encouraged to find his or her own comfort on the mat. Suitable for all levels including very beginner.

This 5-week series is for any and all practitioners, both experienced and beginners, who are curious about the Ashtanga Yoga system and incorporating the practice into their yoga routine. This course is meant to answer any questions and to help practitioners understand the integrity and the importance of this practice in a nourishing and compassionate way. Students will be introduced to the basic philosophy and principles of Ashtanga yoga and most specifically to the Primary Series of the Ashtanga practice, which is offered at The Yoga House twice a week. This series is designed for those new to the Ashtanga practice to help them learn and experience the basics of Ashtanga yoga in a safe and comfortable environment. Elements of breath, bandhas (internal energy locks), drishti (gazing points), Surya Namaskara (sun salutations) and vinyasa (linking breath and movement) will be the emphasis in this class. Each new lesson will build on what was learned the previous week so that all students will feel comfortable to step into their first Led Primary Series class. No experience is required. This class is open to both complete beginners and those with yoga experience.

Jacquelyn Nash was first introduced to the Ashtanga Yoga system in her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Michael Stein at Ashtanga Yoga in New Paltz, NY. Through the guidance of Michael and the self-study of David Swenson’s Ashtanga Yoga, The Practice Manual, Jacquelyn began a dedicated Ashtanga home practice, finding value in the authenticity and integrity of the practice. Through the years, Jacquelyn has been fortunate to study the Ashtanga Yoga system with renowned teachers John Campbell and Kino MacGregor, has taken classes with lineage holder Sharath Jois, Pattabhi Jois’s grandson, and has completed an Ashtanga Primary Series Teacher Training with David Swenson and Shelley Washington. Inspired by the light-heartedness but also sincerity of David and Shelley’s teachings, Jacquelyn has a nurturing and compassionate approach to the Ashtanga system that brings a sense accessibility to those practicing with her. She is humbled to be able to share this sacred practice.

The mythical hero Hanuman took an epic leap across the continents in honor of service, dharma, and friendship. This year, Jacqui and Leigha prepare to take a leap of their own — into a more spacious abode of movement, meditation, and spiritual awakening for The Yoga House community. Join us for this special two-hour class that promises song, story, and myth in motion.

Journey through the jungle of Hanuman’s birth. Flow through phases of Hanuman’s development as an exemplary and celebrated yogi-to-emulate as we share poetry and passages from this beautiful fable. Learn the origin of many yoga asanas. Expect to listen, to flow, to sing, to meditate, and to share in conversation with the many uplifting yogis in your midst. Wear comfy yoga clothing and bring your vocal chords.

Breathe deep as you relax and take in the fresh air and mountain views. Join Jacqui as you unwind from your day and reconnect with yourself in this beautiful outdoor setting. The series will focus on Vinyasa Yoga for beginner and intermediate students. Sign up for individual classes or the full series. Bring your own mat and water. Rain or Shine. Please arrive 15 minutes early to set-up, so the class can start promptly at 6pm. Reservations are required.
