Jessie Montague Takes Over the House Flow on Saturdays, 9:30-11:00am

We are pleased to announce that, beginning September 12th, Jessie Lee Montague will now teach our House Flow class on Saturdays, from 9:30-11:00am. Jessie brings many years of experience and advanced studies in anatomy, and we are so happy to have her .

Jessie Lee Montague (E-RYT)

Jessie MotegueJessie has been studying and teaching yoga for nearly two decades. She was co-founder and co-director of Satya Yoga Center in Rhinebeck NY From 2005-2013. Her original studies brought her to Neyyar Dam INDIA where she received her first Teacher Certification. Upon returning back to the states she dove in head first with another Teacher Training Program in Woodstock NY and became one of the first core staff members at Bliss Yoga Center (now Woodstock Yoga). Jessie continues her studies in The Yoga Anatomy Advanced Studies Program through the Breathing Project based in NYC, with teachers Leslie Kaminoff and Amy Mathews. Jessie teaches in the vinyasa tradition from the lineage of T. Krishnamacharya and emphasizes an exploration of the breath within the postures, and how the breath both informs alignment and creates a continuous Jess new side crowthread between the postures. Jessie has a non-dogmatic approach to teaching and believes that yoga is an exploration of our entire being: body, breath, mind and spirit. She comes to these practices with joy first and foremost. The intention is to gently navigate our bodies into these beautiful postures which reflect the natural world so that we can better explore our deepest potential and connection to each other and to our planet with grace and lightness of heart.

Mel’s yoga journey began in her living room over 13 years ago. An educator since 1998, Mel has taught 4th grade, co-authored a strategy book for teachers and served as a tutor and Director of Education for several NY learning centers. From her extensive background in education, Mel brings a solid understanding of how each student interprets information differently and may apply those misinterpretations to his or her body. As such, she strives to make her instruction clear and accessible for students of all levels of experience. Mel’s classes focus on the development of a solid foundation through the use of props, demonstration, description, and encouragement, while exploring basic principles of alignment, balance and relaxation. By encouraging her students to respect their physical limitations while exploring what is possible, Mel aims to help each individual learn how to serve the unique needs of their body. She is forever grateful to her first yoga teacher, Jill Gnassi, whose expert Iyengar instruction taught her how attending to small details could make a huge difference in her life, both on and off her mat.
